Wholesale & Retail Trade January 2021

• Sales value of Wholesale & Retail Trade recorded RM111.7 billion in January 2021, registering -2.7 per cent contraction year-on-year. The contraction was due to Motor Vehicles which slipped -13.8 per cent. Similarly, Retail Trade and Wholesale Trade also dropped -2.5 per cent and -0.4 per cent respectively.

• In terms of volume index, Wholesale & Retail Trade declined -2.9 per cent year-on-year, due to the decrease of -13.1 per cent and -3.2 per cent in Motor Vehicle and Retail Trade respectively. Wholesale Trade also recorded a fall to register -0.1 per cent. As for the seasonally adjusted volume index, it went down 2.0 per cent month-on-month in January 2021.
