Wholesale & Retail Trade Malaysia Continue Recovery in August 2020 with Sales Value of RM111.4 Billion

• Sales value of Wholesale & Retail Trade recorded RM111.4 billion in August 2020 with a negative growth of 2.3 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, month-on-month sales value continued to post a positive growth of 2.5 per cent in August 2020 as compared to July 2020. All sub-sectors continued to recover, led by Motor Vehicles which register a positive growth to record 1.0 per cent as against August 2019. Retail Trade and Wholesale Trade were also on a recovery path with -1.5 per cent (July: -3.8%) and -3.9 per cent (July: -4.5%) respectively.
• Volume index of Wholesale & Retail Trade also depicted a sign of recovery in year-on-year growth to record -2.4 per cent from -3.9 per cent in July 2020. Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted volume index went up 2.4 per cent month-on-month in August 2020.
