MRA Sustainability Symposium 2026: The Retail ESG Blueprint

The Malaysia Retailers Association (MRA) is pleased to announce the MRA Sustainability Symposium 2026, taking place on 9 September 2026 under the theme:

“The Retail ESG Blueprint – From Awareness to Execution.”

The one-day programme will be held at the AICB Centre of Excellence, Bangunan AICB, 10 Jalan Dato’ Onn, 50480 Kuala Lumpur.

Designed as a practical ESG masterclass for the retail industry, the symposium will move beyond general awareness and focus on how retailers can translate sustainability principles into meaningful actions across their businesses.

Through expert insights, real-world retail case studies, panel discussions, an ESG masterclass, and a guided workshop, participants will gain practical tools, frameworks, and ideas that can be applied within their organisations.

From ESG Awareness to Practical Execution

Environmental, Social and Governance considerations are no longer future concerns. They have become increasingly important to business resilience, stakeholder expectations, regulatory readiness, operational efficiency, and long-term growth.

The MRA Sustainability Symposium 2026 is structured as a hands-on “ESG playbook” for retailers, helping participants better understand what ESG means for their operations and how they can begin implementing practical initiatives.

MRA Sustainability Awards 2026

In conjunction with the symposium, MRA is proud to introduce the MRA Sustainability Awards 2026, an initiative created to recognise and celebrate MRA members who have embarked on their sustainability journey.

The awards acknowledge businesses at different stages of ESG development, from emerging retailers beginning to establish their sustainability roadmap to organisations that have already embedded responsible practices into their strategy and operations.

The award categories are:

• Sustainable Retailer of the Year Award
• Retail Innovation for Good Award
• Rising Star in Sustainable Retail Award

The MRA Sustainability Awards are more than an industry accolade. They provide participating organisations with an opportunity to highlight their commitment to sustainability, innovation, and responsible business practices.

Participation can also strengthen an organisation’s profile and credibility among stakeholders while demonstrating leadership in driving positive change within the Malaysian retail industry.

Nominations for the 2026 awards have now closed. However, members may still refer to the nomination information below to learn more about the award categories, eligibility criteria, and submission requirements.

Nomination Requirements

The nomination requirements included:

• Company profile, with a maximum of two pages
• ESG initiative overview, with a maximum of 10 slides
• Impact evidence, with a maximum of 10 slides
• Supporting materials such as videos, photographs, certificates, or sustainability reports

There were no registration or participation fees for the MRA Sustainability Awards.

As an added benefit, each participating company received one complimentary ticket to attend the Sustainability Symposium and Awards Ceremony for every award category entered.
